Arches National Park
Arches NP is the number one destination in the Moab area. There are 2,000 arches in the park, along with many other unique rock formations. There are numerous hiking trails of varying levels which will lead you to these incredible rock formations. Start with Balanced Rock and the move on to the Windows area. On one side of the parking lot you can an easy hike to North and South Windows and Turret Arch. One the other side of the parking lot there is a short hike to Double Arch. Double Arch is the featured image at the top.
A more difficult hike will take you to famous Delicate Arch.
You might also want to hike to Landmark Arch and try the Park Avenue Trail, and Devil’s Garden Trail.
Canyonlands National Park
Go to Canyonlands for the spectacular views, Mesa Arch, and Schafer Road. It’s about an hour from Moab. Are you brave enough to drive on Schafer Road? You’ll need 4-wheel drive.
Dead Horse Point State Park
One the way back to Moab be sure and stop at Dead Horse Paint Park. Great views, mountain biking, and the place where “Thelma and Louise” drove off the cliff in the movie. You can also take the Potash Road back to Moab. It’s a winding road with numerous switchbacks like the Schafer Road. It will also require 4-wheel drive.
Hell’s Revenge (jeeps and UTV’s)
There are numerous jeep and UTV trails in the Moab from easy to very difficult, but the most famous is Hell’s Revenge. It is located in the Sand Flats Recreation Area just minutes from town. You can rent 4-wheel drive jeeps and UTV’s from many establishments in town or you book a jeep or UTV tour. If you rent a vehicle they will provide maps of various trails in the area for your level of ability. There are even jeep and UTV tours where you drive and follow the guid.

Sliprock Trail (biking)
There are numerous biking opportunities in and around Moab. There are easy paved trails in Moab and many more difficult mountain biking trails just outside of town all the way to Dead Horse Point State Park. The most famous is the Sliprock Trail which you may have noticed on the map above showing Hell’s Revenge. Both of these are in the Sand Flats Recreation Area about 10 minutes outside of Moab. Bring your bike or rent one in town.

Head for the Water
Rafting, kayaking, and paddle boarding are all available in Moab. There are several companies that can set take you on a raft trip or you can rent a kayak or paddle board.

Swimming Holes
Yes, there are swimming holes in Moab. Head for Mill Creek and you will find three swimming holes, two small waterfalls, and places to jump off the cliff into the water. It’s only 5 minute drive from Moab and the water is very cold. From the parking lot head straight toward the creek on a dirt path to find the first swimming hole. A little further upstream past the building is the Power Dam waterfall. This takes a little climb down to the swimming hole. A half mile upstream you will find a natural waterfall and swimming hole. You will cross the creek several times on this short hike. Great for a hot afternoon. Wear your water shoes for walking on the rocks.

Canyoneering and Climbing
There are several outfitters that can take you canyoneering and/or rock climbing. Canyoneering is hiking thru slot canyons and rappelling and rock climbing is going up cliffs. They have easy canyoneering trips that are suitable for children.
Canyonlands by Day and by Night
Canyonlands by Day and by Night offers an evening boat tour preceded by a chuck wagon dinner. The first half of the trip begins with the sun slowly setting. After the sun goes down the boat turns around and begins a light show as lights are shown on the canyon walls displaying unique shadows, shapes, and colors. The entire trip is narrated with the history of Moab, the pointing out of various unique rock formations, and an opportunity to ask questions.
Moab Brewery

Moab Brewery brews many varieties of beer on tap, in a can, and in bottles, and they also distill blue agave, gin, and vodka. Head to the front counter for homemade gelato in numerous flavors. Did I mention they brew their own root beer? And they may serve the best food in Moab. It is family friendly.
Castle Creek Winery
Castle Creek Winery is located at the Red Cliffs Adventure Lodge by the Colorado River along scenic Hwy. 128. While you are there you might consider dinner at Red Cliffs Lodge restaurant and a visit to the Moab Film and Western Heritage Museum. There will see displays about the many movies that have been filmed in the Moab area.
