If you are considering a trip to New England, you should consider visiting the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I have already posted a blog about the Mt. Washington Auto Road, but there are so other wonderful things to do and see in that area. Hike through the gorge in Franconia Notch State Park.
Take a tram to the top.
Take a moose tour with Pemi Valley Moose Tours. It’s a 3-hour tour starting at dusk. You have a 97% per cent chance of seeing a live moose and possibly some other wildlife. Of course, there will be the usual silly moose jokes and sing-along songs about what else. About halfway there will be a stop for restrooms, snacks, and souvenirs. We had a great time.
There are several nice waterfalls with relatively easy access. Remember that all of these waterfalls will be strong in the Spring and early summer and down to a trickle in the late summer and fall.
Sabbaday Falls, Conway: There are three drops in the falls and beautiful pools. There is a handicapped accessible path.
Glen Ellis Falls, Pinkham Notch: The deep green pool of water is off limits to swimmers.
Arethusa Falls, Bretton Woods: This plunge seems to fall from the sky.
Flume Cascade, Crawford Notch: Small plunges end up in the Saco River.
Jackson Falls, Jackson: Popular swimming hole on a summer day. Easily accessible.
The Falling Waters trail will take you toWalker Cascade, 20’ Stairs Falls, 60’ Swiftwater Fallsand 80’ Cloudland Falls.
Diana’s Baths, Conway is a short 1.4 mile hike to an area of cascades and pools of water. We hiked all over that area and played in the water.
