What is WaterFire Providence?
WaterFire Providence is over eighty sparkling bonfires on the water. Waterfire Providence is music. Waterfire Providence is entertainment. Waterfire Providence is firetenders in torch-lit boats lighting and stoking flames. Watefire Providence is celebration. Waterfire Providence is beauty. Waterfire Providence is magical. Located in the basin where the rivers converge in Providence, Rhode Island is a celebration like you have never seen before. As the sun goes down, numerous fires are lit on the water while music plays and entertainment springs forth. Each lighting (there are several each year) is on a different theme. The night we attended was a breast cancer awareness theme. The Capitol Building was lit in pink while at least 200 hundred people with torches processed from there to the basin for the lighting. This is an experience you will never forget. Check their website for the dates and themes of lightings. (waterfire.org) There are several lightings each year.
